HISTORY

The Federal University of Technology Minna Library was established on the 1st March, 1984. It was housed in the present day department of statistics building which was later moved to the dining Hall of Government Teachers College, Minna in 1985. With further expansion, a close by building which was a church was merged to the existing library building in 1988. This served as the Main Library until 2007, when the main campus library building, Gidan Kwano was completed.


In 2010, University Library Services moved to Gidan Kwano main campus. However, the Bosso campus Library still offer services to the schools that are still left in Bosso campus.


From the date of establishing the library there has been three substantive University Librarians and two designated as Librarian’s in charge.
1. Mr. Stephen S. Kolo (Librarian in Charge) 1984 – 1990
2. Dr. Nasir Bello (1st Substantive Librarian) 1991 – 2001
3. Mr. Joel J. Kolo (Librarian in charge) 2001 – 2004
4. Mal. Muhammad Ibn Muhammad (2nd substantive Librarian) 2004 – 2014
5. Dr. Jibrin A. Alhassan (3rd substantive Librarian) 2014 – till date

Vision

The library would seek to become a unique repository of knowledge in science and Technology and providing library services comparable to those of world best universities

Mission

To provide academic support services to the University in teaching, research and development and publication. This would be effectively done by providing learning materials such as books, current journals, subscriptions to databases and other educational media. The library would also provide library instructions to users to aid their quick retrieval of information.
